  • Easy to install, Uses one SSID, Dedicated backhaul, MU-MIMO support
  • Expensive, Large footprint, Mixed performance
  • The Netgear Nighthawk X6S EX8000 offers the rare ability to use the same network name and password as your router, but other extenders offer better speed and range...

  • 4x4 5 GHz high-band radio can be used for back or fronthaul, Impressive extended throughput
  • Pricey, Aesthetics
  • I'm sorry I haven't anything to compare the EX8000's performance with, since I've given away previous extenders tested and used a new test process. But I think it's clear the EX8000's 5 GHz radios can provide a high bandwidth extended connection over a su...

  • OpenVPN server, Supports wireless bridge on both bands, Supports airtime fairness
  • No QoS features
  • To pull everything together, it's always good to look at the Router Ranker, which shows the R8000P at #5 and the R8000 at #9. The Performance summary for each shown below shows the P earns the higher rank due to higher 2.4 GHz range, 5 GHz average and pea...

  • Very fast, Lots of Ethernet ports, Dedicated wireless connection to router,
  • Bulky, Expensive,
  • Like the slightly cheaper X4S, the Netgear Nighthawk X6S (EX800) uses twin 5GHz radios to provide both a fast connection to your client devices and a full-speed link back to your router. What's more, the backhaul radio is rated at an exceptionally fast 1...

  • Extends WiFi range with any router (but compatible NETGEAR router required for single SSID), Keeps your existing router, unlike dedicated mesh systems, Relatively painless setup, Not as expensive as dedicated mesh WiFi, Four-port Ethernet switch, USB port
  • Only extends 802.11n a little, Not as much extra 802.11ac range as a dedicated mesh WiFi system, Only USB 2.0
  • The NETGEAR Nighthawk X6S Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender has clear benefits over a standalone router. It can extend your usable 802.11ac range by 5-10m, which can mean the difference between covering your house and not. However, it's not in the same league...

  • Abstract:  With so many of us working from home due to the coronavirus, many US homes have more apps than ever careening across their Wi-Fi networks. And some of these require not only a good amount of bandwidth, but a steady amount of bandwidth. When they don't get...

  • The EX8000 shares almost the same features as mesh routers, but it cannot work alone. This, coupled with its relatively high price, makes it a hard sell for mainstream consumers...
