The editors liked

The editors didn't like

  • The design of the dock and keyboard help keep the ultrabook cool, even when you're playing games, which the Helix runs better than other ultrabooks
  • The older-generation Intel processor and GPU make this tablet well overpriced for what you get
  • The Helix is not a traditional ultrabook, but the twist-and-pull design of this convertible ultrabook gives you more portability than you will find anywhere else. The keyboard is sturdy, the display is full high definition with a brilliant picture and you...

  • Abstract:  If you're looking for a Windows laptop that looks like a MacBook Air, you've come to the right place. These systems are fast and full-featured, yet slim, light, and generally long on battery life. A few even sport solid-state drives, and some offer a...

  • Abstract:  Lenovo's 13.3in. IdeaPad U300s is one of a growing number of ultrabooks characterised by a thin and light design and a minimalist look. As usual, there's no optical drive, and the price hovers around £800 (inc. VAT).For that you get a Core i5 processor, 4...

  • There's a lot to like about the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s and after using the machine for a while we really wanted to absolutely love it.  Unfortunately, our tech geek lust started to wane a little after we got under the hood with this machine in our benchmark...

  • Abstract:  You’d have to actively be avoiding the tech media over the past several months not to have heard about Ultrabooks. Their coming has garnered a boatload of buzz, fueled in no small part by Intel’s $300 million fund to get hardware and software makers ...

  • Thin and light, even by ultrabook standards, Strong Core i7 performance, Bump-resistant SSD, Long battery life, Aluminum chassis, Surprising audio fidelity
  • Too expensive, No memory-card slot, Port selection is only basic
  • The U300s delivers on the ultrabook promise of a take-anywhere laptop that doesn't compromise speed or battery life. But the Core i7 CPU and 256GB SSD in our test unit drives up the price too far for most users. Read More...

  • Good keyboard, Excellent performance, Sleek design,
  • Flexible chassis, No media card reader,
  • The IdeaPad U300s is a solid entry into the Ultrabook market; it's mostly successful but stumbles in a few noticeable areas. While I like the design, the chassis is too easy to flex, which leads to some concerns about long-term reliability. The screen is nothing special with barely adequate picture quality. Last but not least it lacks a media card reader. On the plus side, the U300s has a great k
