The editors liked

The editors didn't like

  • It's a 3D phone, HDMI, LG's customisations make for a nice user experience
  • Size will be too big for some, design isn't quite premium, some unexpected slowdown takes the shine off things
  • A technological achievement slightly marred by day-to-day foibles. It's big and bold, but won't suit everyone...

  • Glasses-free 3D screen; 3D photo and video recording; Speedy dual-core processor
  • 3D only works in landscape mode; Little 3D content outside of YouTube; Chunky and lacking in style
  • The LG Optimus 3D is a pretty humdrum smart phone with one spectacular trick up its sleeve -- a glasses-free 3D screen. If you're into three dimensions, it'll be worth a look....

  • We’re still not sold on glasses-free 3D, but it’s a big fat juicy smartphone to sink your thumbs into regardless....

  • Abstract:  Do you really need 3D on your phone? Of course you don't, but it's one heck of a cool gimmick. As with the Nintendo 3DS, the LG Optimus 3D offers glasses-free 3D and it works uncannily well....

  • Excellent 3D screen and effect, Big, accurate keyboard, Some good LG social and web interface additions, Smooth 2D 1080p video recording
  • Poor battery life, Bland hardware design, Slow to unlock, Can also be slow to respond to some touches, Not running the latest version of Android
  • The battery will let you down, but the 3D effect of this phone is an amazing novelty and it's great for general web use...

  • Abstract:  The and the are the first two 3D phones in the UK. With 2011 looking set to be the year of the third dimension, there's likely to be more coming soon. But, with the today and the pencilled-in for July, these two are going head-to-head for the b...

  • Big, beefy chassis, video recording and blazing performance
  • Battery life is subpar, Android 2.2, shallow 3D viewing angles
  • If you’ve ever picked up a smartphone, even an oversized one like the HTC Incredible S, and thought, “You know what? This is still too small”, the LG Optimus 3D might just be for you. Sure it’s bloated, but it’s also bloody fast, and it’s one meaty mob...

  • If you want to jump on the 3D bandwagon there's plenty for you here with 3D videos, 3D video capture and 3D games
  • The battery charge won't last long so you'll need to stay near a power source
  • Pros: If you want to jump on the 3D bandwagon there's plenty for you here - with 3D videos, 3D video capture and 3D gamesCons: The battery charge won't last long so you'll need to stay near a power source Verdict: Once the 3D novelty wears off, you're...

  • The stand-out feature, obviously, is the gimmick that is 3D and it’s very well-executed. And yet the Optimus 3D has a lot more going for it, thanks to a great screen, easy connectivity for video playback on a flatscreen TV and a fast dual-core process...

  • Even before you take the 3D screen into consideration, the LG has got a cracking display. At 4.3 inches, it's the perfect smartphone for watching movies on or sharing your photographs, with lovely bright and colourful image quality. Hit the 3D button on the side, and the LG Optimus comes into its own. Some of the 3D imagery – including games and videos – are absolutely stunning, although you'll h
  • The main downside to the LG Optimus 3D is its size. Sure, the 4.3-inch screen is lovely when you're watching films, but this phone is huge in comparison to other smartphones. If you want a pocket-friendly handset, this isn't the one for you.
  • If you're in the market for a bigger Android smartphone, the LG Optimus 3D is well worth a look. We're still not entirely convinced that 3D technology has a lot to offer the smartphone world, but there are other features here that also impress, and the...
